The purpose of the project was to rectify the site’s fire safety non-conformances as prescribed by the Fire Engineered Solution to achieve NCC and Australian Standard Compliance AS4072.1 and BCA C3.15.
Macksville District Hospital’s fire safety compartments were non-compliant as the service riser shafts were unsealed between building levels. The shafts house various services including electrical, hydraulic and data containing asbestos material in the form of pipe lagging. The preliminary works required removing the asbestos containing material to enable the sealing of shafts.
